  • To create a channel group, the Routing Configuration object pane must first be configured. Right click on Dialogic object and select New Routing Configuration. The Routing Configuration pane will get created. No configuration is needed in this object. Refer to Routing Configuration topic for more information.

  • Right click on the Routing Configuration object and select New Channel Groups. The Channel Groups object is a parent or container object and no configuration is needed here. Refer to the Channel Groups topic for more information on this object.

  • To create a Channel group that will communicate with the SIP Client and uses the codec G.711, right click on Channel Groups Object and select New Channel Group. The channel group object pane will get created. Below is screen capture of channel group used in this example for the SIP Client.

Notes on specific fields in Channel Groups

  • Right click on the Dialogic object and select New External Network Elements. The External Network Elements is a container object and no configuration is needed here. Refer to External Network Elements topic for more information on this object.

  • Right click on the External Network Elements and select New External Gateways. The External Gateways object is a container object as well, and no configuration is needed here. Refer to the External Gateways topic for more information on this object.

  • Right click on the External Gateways object and select New External Gateway. The gateway in this example is the SIP Client application. It will be labeled GW1_SIPClient.

  • Enter the IP address of the SIP Phone in the IP Address field.

  • Select the SIP Profile created in the SIP to SIP - Initial Configuration topic. The SIP Profile can be selected from the Drop Down Menu in the SIP Profile field. Refer to the External Gateway topic for more information on this object. See screen capture below.

  • To connect the SIP Client to the channel group created earlier, the SIP Client must be configured as an External Network Element of this channel group. Right click on Channel Group ChGrp_G711_SIPClient and select New IP Network Element. Select from the drop down menu, the gateway just created. See screen capture below.

Field

Description

Name

Enter a name for the channel group. In this example ChGrp_G729_IPPhone was used.

Signaling Type

Select SIP signaling since the protocol being used is SIP.

Incoming IP Profile

Select IP_Profile_G729. This is the incoming IP Profile configured earlier and the IP profile that will be used to communicate with the IP Phone.

Outgoing IP Profile

Select IP_Profile_G729. This is the outgoing IP Profile configured earlier. The outgoing side of this channel group will eventually be routed to a channel group created earlier that has G.711 as its incoming and outgoing IP Profile.

  • Right click on the External Gateways object and select New External Gateway. The gateway in this example is the IP Phone, so it will be labeled GW2_IPPhone. Enter an IP address and modify the field as needed. Refer to the External Gateway topic for more information on this object. See screen capture below.
