Backups
This article is a companion document for the Switchvox Backups video and will guide you through how to create a backup, how to set up automatic backups, and how to upload/restore from a backup.

While signed into your Switchvox Administration portal, go to Server -> Maintenance -> Backups.

Creating a Backup
After clicking Create Backup, select which directories you wish to back up (most of them are automatically included in the back up file). The directories that are automatically backed-up are:

When the backup process is complete, the Backups page is displayed with a new backup. Click the Download button to save your backup file.

Setting Up an Automatic Backup
It's recommended that you set up a daily automatic backup that stores the backup file onto a FTP server. To schedule an automatic backup, click on Set Up Automatic Backups.

Click Test FTP Settings to set this information to ensure your backup files may be properly transferred. Once the test is complete, you may then select which components will be backed up- click Save Settings when done.

Uploading and Restoring a Backup File
To choose a backup file, select Upload and Restore Backup.

A warning box will appear, stating that your currant configuration will be overwritten with the contents of this backup file. From here, browse and select your backup file and then click on Upload and Restore Backup to start the process.

Note: some back up files may be so large that it is impractical to download and restore from a single file. These backups are broken into multiple files associated with a metafile that acts as a key to merge other files. The process of restoring from a metafile is to select and upload the metafile first. After a few seconds, another window will open, requesting that the other backup files be uploaded. Begin with the SVB file ending in 00, then 01, and continue until all backup files are loaded. |
