As displayed above, the H.323 signaling stack can be configured to communicate with an H.323 Gatekeeper or can be configured to communicate with just an H.323 Gateway. When a Gatekeeper is being utilized, the Gatekeeper functionality (Registration, Admission, and Status (RAS) messaging) is enabled through the Gatekeeper Support field. If the H.323 signaling stack will be configured using an IP address other than the IP address that is configured during the bootup process, the IP Address object must be created first and configured with a Services IP address. The IP address configured as a Services IP address can then be selected as the IP address that will be configured on the H.323 stack.

The IMG 2020 can Discover and Register with a Gatekeeper manually using the Discover GK, Register with GK, and Unregister with Gatekeeper buttons. The IMG 2020 can also automatically Discover and Register with a Gatekeeper by enabling the Gatekeeper Auto Discovery field in the External Gatekeeper object. To make changes to a Gatekeeper that is currently registered, the IMG 2020 must first be Unregistered from the Gatekeeper, make the changes and then Discover and Register again.
