The Variant Table object is created under the Signaling Variants object. The Variant Table object creates a Variant Table that is sent to the IMG 2020 for use. The Variant Table object creates a Base Variant. The Variant Table can then be customized using the Variant Entry object under it. To create the Variant Table object, right click on the Signaling Variants object and select New Variant Table. The IMG 2020 supports creating variants for SS7 and SIP-T and up to ten individual Variant Table objects can be created. Below is short description of each of the variants supported.

To modify a base variant such as ANSI 97, ITU97, ETSI V1, etc a signaling variant table must first be created. Once the Variant Table is created, it can then be modified using individual variant entries. The Variant Table object creates the base variant and the individual variant entries customize it. Information regarding any modifications to the base variant are achieved in the variant entry object. Once the complete variant has been created and modified, it can then be added to the SS7 signaling stack or SIP-T Entity object.

Field Descriptions
Variant Name
Click in the Variant Name field and enter a name that identifies this particular variant. The name entered will appear in drop down menu of the SS7 Variant field of the SS7 Stack object. The name being entered can be up to 25 characters.
Variant Type
Select from drop down menu whether the variant being created will be modifying an existing SS7 or SIP-T Variant. The two protocols on the IMG 2020 that can have their variants modified are SS7 and SIP-T.
Base Variant
When modifying an SS7 or SIP-T variant, a base variant to be modified must first be configured. Select from drop down menu the base variant. The table below displays the base variants supported in both SS7 and SIP-T.

Variant Id
The Variant ID field is automatically populated with the next variant ID in the list. To change the default Variant ID, select a different ID from drop down menu. ID's range from 1-10.

Delete All Variant Elements
The Delete All Variant Elements button can be used to clean up a configuration. The Delete All Variant Elements button will delete all the Variant Elements configured under the Signaling Variants object that are not being utilized someplace else.
