Logging out a user from your phone

  • When a device has a user registered to it, you can program a button to log out the user from the device and log in a new user/extension. Pressing the Logout application button should prompt you with a screen to select "Login" or "Logout" as shown below:

Logging in a user from your phone

  • Pressing either of these buttons will launch the Login application and prompt you for your extension and password. The password by default is your voicemail password. If you do not have a voicemail box set up on your account, you would use the "User Password" as defined in the End Point Manger Global Settings. You can also optionally use the Admin password as defined in the End Point Manger Global Settings to log in any phone without knowing the voicemail password.

  • The phone will then load its configuration file without needing a reboot for Aastra phones. At this time Yealink and Digium phones need to be rebooted to get their configuration file.

Setting a default template a user should use when logging in

  • For each brand of phones, you need to set which template is the default template. This is the template that will be used when a phone logs in unless you specify a specific template for the extension in the Extension Mapping section of End Point Manager.

  • Under each brand inside EPM, you will see which template is considered the default template. In our example below we see "sample" is our default template.

  • To set your default template, you will need to edit the template and select Yes for the Default Template item.

How to specify which template a user should use when logging in

  • To force a user to always use a specific template when logging in, you can set up an extension in the Extension Mapping section of EPM just like you would normally do, except you can leave the MAC Address blank. Now when the user logs in, their configuration will be pulled from the extension mapping template chosen.

  • In our example above, the extension 4100 will use the Aastra "sample" template any time the user John Doe logs in, regardless of what phone model he logs in from.
