Overview

This page details the significant user-facing changes made in version 5.4 of Sangoma Meet

New Features

Personal Meeting Identifiers

With Sangoma Meet V5.4, Users can create personal, customized Meeting IDs.

Until now, Meeting IDs have been numeric and automatically assigned by Sangoma Meet. Now, with Sangoma Meet V5.4, Users can create their own, customized, number and/or character-based Meeting IDs. Want to include your company name, your actual name, or your favorite pet’s name in your Meeting IDs? Now, you can!

Personal Meetings can be scheduled, just like before, with calendar integration, and, like other meetings, can require passcodes and can send others to the lobby room on joining.

In Sangoma Meet, Personal Meetings are managed in a new “Personal Meetings” setting that can be accessed from the Gear Icon when Scheduling a New Meeting, e.g.:

On clicking the icon, Users will see the new “Personal Meetings” setting, e.g.:

And from this new screen, Users can manage their Personal Meeting identifiers. Choose your own, custom Meeting ID.

Meeting Co-Host

With Sangoma Meet V5.4, Users can assign meeting Co-Hosts.

Until now, Meetings have been hosted (moderated) by a single user only. Now, when scheduling a meeting, a User can designate, by email, other Co-Hosts for the meeting. The Co-Hosts of the meeting enjoy the same hosting / moderation privileges as the original creator of the meeting.

Meeting Co-Hosts can be assigned and are managed in the same area as Personal Meetings. When viewing the details of your Meeting, scroll down to to see the Additional Settings link:

On clicking this link, Users will see a new Co-Host controls option where additional Meeting hosts can be designated, e.g.:

Meeting Subtitles and Transcription

This feature is in Beta phase

  • We value feedback, including tickets describing problem with beta/experimental features.

  • Beta/experimental features may change in future releases, depending upon the feedback.

  • Beta/experimental product may be incomplete

    • Future releases may include more functionality to complete the feature.

With Sangoma Meet V5.4, Users can view subtitles (closed captioning) and see and download meeting transcriptions.

Admin/Co-admin have to enable the “CC (Closed-Captioning)” option . Once done, every participant will be able to see the “CC” option on their end.

The accuracy of automated captions is influenced by various factors including, but not limited to, background noise, the volume and clarity of the speaker's voice, as well as lexicons and dialects specific to particular geographical areas or communities

When hovering your mouse over the meeting controls, you will see a new Closed-Captioning (CC) icon.

Clicking on this icon enables subtitles (closed-captioning) for meeting participants. You’ll see their words transcribed in realtime by AI into on-screen, attributed text, e.g.:

The subtitling pop-up can be moved around.

If you mouse-over the Closed-Captioning icon, you will see the “View full transcript” option. This option will open a separate transcription panel that shows all transcribed conversation, e.g.:

Up at the top of the Transcription menu, you’ll see an arrow-down downloading icon. Clicking on this icon will download a full transcript in CSV (person, spoken words, timestamp) format of the participants' conversation.

Subtitling / Transcription can be enabled and disabled throughout the Meeting.

Improvements

Download Recordings on Error

With Sangoma Meet V5.4, Users can download recordings from a previous meeting if the meeting ended abruptly in error or Sangoma Meet otherwise stopped responding.

When opening Sangoma Meet, if a previous Meeting recording is available for download, Users will see an Action Required notification alerting them to the recording’s availability, e.g.:
