Description of I/O:
The Snom PA1 Plus contains the following inputs:
Ethernet ports - Labeled Port 1 and Port 2. Port 1 is the POE port and is considered the WAN side. Port 2 is
considered the LAN side and will forward any traffic through this device.
MIC in – Microphone input must be differential and without grounding. This port is for installation and
maintenance only.
5V DC – 5V power input which is not supplied (same power supply used on a Snom phone). A POE port will
supply the power necessary.
...
The Snom PA1 Plus contains the following outputs:
Sound Amplifier - Embedded Class D 4W power amplifier. This amplifier can support a small unpowered
speaker at 8Ω.
Sound Output – Push-on speaker terminals labeled Speaker, LINE out 3.5mm jack labeled Line Out, and 4 I/O pins remotely settable via the web interface. Any of these interfaces have the ability to output sound. However we would suggest the push-on 8Ω speaker connection for small installations and the 3.5mm Line Out jack for larger setups. Typically using a stereo male 3.5mm jack to dual RCA (phono) cable you can connect the output of the Snom PA1 Plus through a separately provided amplifier and associated speakers.
PSTN Output – Labeled EXT. This is an RJ11 output configurable to ring out to a PSTN phone.
Power Light – Labeled Power, this light will turn red when the device is powered on.
Call Light – Labeled Call, this light will turn green when a call is connected.
IP/Reset – The IP/Reset button is labeled IP/Reset and is next to the Power and Call Light outputs. Pressing
this gives the current IP configuration of the device.
Physical Setup:
Connect an output speaker to the push-on terminals or connect the Line Out to an amplifier and speakers
before powering on the device.
For a Business Voice configuration, the PA1 Plus should be connected from Ethernet Port Labeled Port 1 into any available extension PoE Port in the installed switch. (Note) Power supply required if a non PoE port is used. Connecting the PA1 Plus to the POE port will power on the device. At this point, the Power Light should turn red.
The Snom PA1 Plus should take an IP address via DHCP after some time. To confirm the PA1 Plus has a proper IP address, the IP/Reset button can be pressed. This will confirm the network connectivity as well as the operation of the Sound Output. The PA1 Plus will announce the IP address that it is using. At this point, the Snom PA1 Plus should be registered with the StarBox and be given its extension. To test registration, call the Snom PA1 Plus ’s extension. The PA1 Plus should automatically answer the call and forward any audio through the Sound Output.
