To verify the disk is degraded you can use SNMP to check the status of the disk. An example of an SNMP response that shows a degraded drive is below:

iso.3.6.1.4.1.22736.10.8.2 = STRING: "DEGRADED"

In a case where you remove the drive but the disk is not bad simply reinserting the drive does not un-degrade the raid. You will need to perform a software restart. This will begin to rebuild the raid. An example SNMP response of a raid being rebuilt is below:

iso.3.6.1.4.1.22736.10.8.2 = STRING: "REBUILDING"

If the drive failed and if replacing with exact same make/model of hard drive, after reinserting new drive you will need to perform a full hardware reboot for the rebuilding of the raid process onto the new drive. Depending upon the amount of data that needs to be mirrored to new drive, this process may take several hours. If you have a lot of call recordings, this can prolong the process.

An example SNMP response of a healthy raid is below:

iso.3.6.1.4.1.22736.10.8.3 = STRING: "Online"
