Overview

Loop Timing can be configured on any of the Bearer or Signaling Spans. Once loop timing is configured the Timing Synchronization Priority List will need to be configured to set up a priority on which timing source gets the highest priority and which gets the lowest priority

  • Once the T1/E1 Bearer and/or Signaling spans have been created, timing can now be accomplished. Below is screen capture of T1 Bearer Spans configured without timing. This procedure will explain how to configure timing.

  • At the lower half of the screen capture above is the object table with each of the "interface offsets" (Spans). Right Click on the offset that loop timing will created on and select set primary. This will create a timing source designated as the Primary Loop. See screen capture below.

  • If there is going to be more than one timing source then the above process can be repeated and the selection "Set Secondary" will be chosen. This will create a timing source designated as the Secondary Loop

    • Timing can be created on the Signaling Spans also. Below is screen capture of the object table of the signaling spans. Note that the Primary Reference and Secondary Reference Timing Designators are hard-coded. The timing will always be on Span0 and Span1 of the signaling spans.

  • Once the T1/E1 Bearer and/or Signaling spans have been created, timing can now be configured. Below is screen capture of T1 Bearer span profile with Clear Channel Configured. Timing is not configured on this span. Note the "Not Timing Source" in the Loop Timing Type field. Next few steps will explain how to configure timing.

  • Click in the Loop Timing Type field and a drop down menu will appear displaying the choices for timing. If Primary Loop is selected then this span will be used for loop timing.

  • Notice that the Loop Timing Field is now displaying Primary. Secondary Loop timing is accomplished by following the same procedure but selecting Secondary in the Loop Timing Field instead of Primary

  • Timing does not need to be configured on the Signaling Spans. Timing is already Hard-Coded into Span 0 and Span1. The timing on the signaling spans are named Primary Reference 1 and Primary Reference 2 when configuring the Timing Synchronization Priority List.
