SIP Signaling - Network Element

The SIP Network Element authorizes the IMG 2020 to register with a SIP User Agent (gateway) or SIP User Agent Client (SIP Phone or softphone application). When configuring a SIP network using the IMG 2020, configure a SIP Network Element with each SIP entity the IMG 2020 needs to register with. This object enables the IMG 2020 to send out a SIP Registration for Authentication to a SIP network entity that has outbound registration enabled. All the SIP gateways and SIP endpoints will be displayed in the drop down menu of the SIP Network Element field.

The Main IMG 1010 - SIP Signaling Object object has a Default SIP Authentication UserName and Default SIP Authentication Password field where a username and password can be entered. The username and password fields in this object are used as a blanket username and password for all SIP elements within the network and will automatically be entered in the SIP Network Element Username and Password fields. If however, the SIP Network Element being configured has different credentials, those credentials must be entered in the SIP Authentication UserName and SIP Authentication Password fields within the SIP Network Element fields. These credentials will override the credentials configured in the main SIP Signaling object.

To register the IMG 2020, press the Register button located beneath the SIP Network Element object. If IMG 2020 is re-configured, the IMG 2020 will need to be re-registered by pressing the Register button again.

Field Descriptions

Network Element

The SIP Network Element field has a drop down menu that will display all SIP network entities configured. This drop down menu includes gateways and SIP clients such as SIP Phones etc. that the IMG 2020 is authorized to register with. Select one Gateway or SIP client from the drop down menu.

Registration Mode

Registration Mode provides the capability to define multiple address of records (AOR) that will be registered to a core network. The registration can be standard or bulk registration. The bulk registration is a mechanism that allows the IMG 2020 to register, on behalf of a PBX and the number ranges it serves, to an IMS core network.

For bulk registration, a special REGISTER message will be sent on behalf of the PBX:

  • "Require" header with "gin" (generate implicit numbers)

  • "Contact" header with "bnc" and without user part

  • "Contact" header containing the IP address of the IMG 2020

  • "To" header that identifies the PBX

  • No number or range of numbers is specified during the registration process, it is implicit

The Registration Mode field has a drop down menu that will display the registration mode options. Select the option from the drop down menu.
