Advanced Billing Number Parameter Translation

The Charge Number which is located in the ISUP messaging identifies the customer or account with which the caller is associated. The Charge number parameter conveys information sent in either direction indicating the chargeable number for the call consisting of the odd/even indicator, nature of address indicator, numbering plan indicator, and address signals. The IMG 2020 can be configured so the outgoing information such as Nature Of Address, Numbering Plan, and International Number Indicator can be translated. The settings selected in each of the fields will be included in the charge # parameter if the Billing # Translation field in the Translation Table Element object is populated with an outgoing number. Before configuring the Advanced Billing Number Translation object, the following parameters in the Translation Element object need to be configured for the Advanced Translation to be applied.

  • The Type of Operation field in the Translation Element object must be set to Translation.

  • The String To Match field in the Translation Element object needs to be configured for the parameter to be translated.

  • The String field below the String to Match field must have the digits to match entered. 

Once the Billing # Translation is populated, then all other fields within the Advanced Billing Number Translation object can be modified.

Field Descriptions

Nature of Address (Default = No Translation)

The default is set to No Translation which specifies that the value of the incoming Nature Of Address parameter will be the value on the outgoing IAM. If however, the Nature of Address parameter in the outgoing IAM needs to be translated, the Nature of Address field will have a drop down menu with the following selections below. This will be the Nature of Address (NOA) to be included in the charge # parameter in the case where an outgoing SS7 call (IAM message) uses the translation table entry being configured.

Numbering Plan Indicator (Default = No Translation)

If however, the Numbering Plan Indicator (NP) parameter in the outgoing IAM needs to be translated, the Numbering Plan Indicator field will have a drop down menu with the following selections below.  This will be the Numbering Plan (NP) Indicator value that will be included in the charge # parameter in the case where an outgoing SS7 call (IAM message) uses the translation table entry being configured.
