MFCR2 With Shortel PBX
Vega 100/200/100G/200G can be used as a protocol converter to enable a Shoretel PBX to support R2 protocol on their ISDN/PRI Interfaces.
There are 2 specific things you will need:
Follow Directions explained on Shoretel Vega Configuration Guide: Vega Configuration Guide
Make adjustments on Shoretel Trunking groups to properly manage CLID presentation on internal extensions:
There is a string of digits needed to be configured in the Trunk Group associated to the ISDN connecting to Vega. The string needed is: <#'XXXXXXXXXX>+MX.%999G
You need to enter in support mode in the ShoreTel director. To do so, in the login screen press Control+Shift and click on the “U” of username, a red message will tell you that you are in support mode. Log In, and go to the trunk group, go to new options at the end and select custom, type in the string. Then make any dummy change in the trunk just to enable the SAVE option and Save.
Note: Sometimes the coupling between ISDN and MFCR2 signals does not allow calls to be processed correctly. To solve this it is necessary to add a delay in the dialing plan for the calls between MFCR2 and ISDN/PRI.
To do this, first check that the default SIP profile 1 is active and configured correctly:
Then we add a delay in the dial plan that goes from the E1 link with MFCR2 protocol to the E1 link with ISDN/PRI protocol as follows:
As you can see, the call coming from the E1 link with MFCR2 protocol is sent to the SIP stack of the vega (SIP profile 9901) and then sent to the E1 link with ISDN/PRI protocol
For the calls going from the ISDN/PRI E1 link to the MFCR2 E1 link we leave the dial plan intact.
