Overview

The Dialogic Diva System Release for Windows provides the Dialogic Diva Port driver, that is, a 'virtual COM port', for modem emulation. It behaves like a serial interface with a modem connected.

Using the Diva Configuration Manager, you can install a modem, or a modem 'pool', and select the serial COM ports on which the modems are to be installed.

The Configuration Manager allows you to install virtual modems for a variety of connections:

  • Fax

  • V.110

  • V.120

  • HDLC

  • X.75

  • X.25

  • Analog modem.

Thus, you can, for example, send and receive faxes, access ISDN mailboxes, or communicate with analog modems.

Using the Diva Configuration Manager to add a virtual modem

  1. Go to Start-> All Programs-> Dialogic Diva -> Configuration Manager

  2. Click on 'Insert' in the menu and choose either:

    1. 'Modem' - if you want to add a single modem
        - or -

    2. 'Modem pool' - if you need more than one modem of a specific modem-type

  3. Highlight the modem (or modem pool) that you have just added to display the properties of that modem

  4. Select the type of modem you wish to use

  5. Specify the COM ports you wish to use, and the number of modems - if you are using a Modem Pool.

NOTE

All modems that you can install as single modems can also be installed as modem pools.

Modem Types

The following modems are available:

  • Dialogic Diva Analog Modem *

  • Dialogic Diva Fax Modem *

  • Dialogic Diva V.120 Modem (64K)

  • Dialogic Diva V.120 Modem (56K) *

  • Dialogic Diva V.110 Modem *

  • Dialogic Diva X.25 Modem

  • Dialogic Diva X.75 Modem (64K)

  • Dialogic Diva X.75 Modem (56K) *

  • Dialogic Diva PPP-Modem (64K)

  • Dialogic Diva PPP-Modem (56K) *

  • Dialogic Diva Generic Server Modem (incoming calls only; supports automatic B-channel call detection)

NOTE

Some modem emulations are dependent on the Diva Media Board having one or more Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) on-board and a valid license supporting these features. Please see the Dialogic Diva Media Board Features sections in the Diva System Release WIN Reference Guide to verify whether your Diva board supports the modem in question.

Creating a binding between the modem and the adapter

It is necessary to create a 'binding' between the Modem/Modem Pool and the Adapter.

  • Click on the binding between the Modem/Modem Pool and the Adapter.

    • In the 'Properties' of the binding, configure the 'Call Type' and 'Call Answering'.

NOTE

Call Answering can be set to 'All Calls', or to 'Specific Numbers' if you have configured a Range of Extensions or MSN numbers on your Line.

Finally, activate the configuration and restart the system when prompted.

If you are using an application that is not TAPI-based and therefore need to address the Diva Port driver directly using AT commands, see the link below for pre-defined AT command strings.
