Dialogic Voice Cards - IP Network Security when using JCT D/4PCI board

Concern

Customers may be concerned that the D/4PCI board can be used to obtain unauthorized access to their secure IP network.

Explanation

The D/4PCI cannot be used to gain unauthorized access to a secure IP network.
The D/4PCI is a four channel voice processing board for PCI-bus computing servers. It uses a standard ½ size PCI form factor circuit board. When used with loop-start analog POTS lines, it emulates the electrical characteristics of a standard telephone device.  The D/4PCI board provides programmable media and call control functionality suitable for a modern IVR: Play and record, audio compression, voice detection, tone detection and generation, speech recognition, fax, etc. The D/4PCI does not have an external bus other than the PCI-bus connector (i.e. no SCBus or CTBus/H.100 bus) and does not have provisions for a daughter board.

The board does not contain Ethernet or similar LAN connectivity. The D/4PCI does not have IP connectivity capabilities, nor does it support modem connectivity through its POTS interface.  It is a stand-alone PCI bus peripheral device.  The D/4PCI is Y2K compliant: it does not contain/utilize any date sensitive modules. It is also RoHS compliant.  The board has two different assemblies, with the marketing names: D/4PCIUF and D/4PCIU4S. The hardware for each is identical and they only differ slightly in software functionality.

The D/4PCI system functions provided by the host driver program can be summarized as:

  • A voice API with event reporting

  • An interface to the disk I/O system

  • An interface to the requesting Host OS services such as hardware and software registration

  • An interface to block I/O

  • Receiving PCI bus-interrupt service and dispatch.
