FAX Support - Outbound Faxes Aren't Reaching the Fax Machine

If you are experiencing an issue where faxes are leaving your Switchvox system but are never ending up completed at the Fax machine, check how the 'Automatically Determine Call Progress' option is set. To do this:

  1. Log into the Switchvox system as an administrator

  2. Select to the Setup tab

  3. Navigate to Call Routing

  4. Choose Channel Groups

  5. Select your FXO fax line

  6. Scroll down and enable Advanced Options (1st Advanced Options tab)

  7. Change Automatically Determine Call Progress from Yes to No

Having Call Progress enabled can cause issues with how your system needs to run. This option can set the channels to appear in an incorrect state by showing an 'answered' status when really, it's still dialing. When placing a call/fax, Switchovx listens for an answer tone and if this option is enabled, it may never hear one and will cause outbound faxes to fail.
