FAX Support - How do I disable fax detection for SIP?

If you are receiving faxes over a SIP Provider or Gateway set up as a SIP peer to an analog fax machine you will want to disable Fax Detection. The steps below are designed for an analog fax machine that is configured with an FXS module.

1. Go to Setup > VoIP Providers and modify the provider you receive faxes on.

2. Go to the Fax Settings tab and change Fax Detection to: Disabled.

3. Save VoIP Provider.

4. Go to Setup > Channel Groups and modify the FXS Channel Group.

5. Open Advanced Group Options and change Fax Detection to: No.

6. Save Channel Group (NOTE: This will drop all calls and do a short software restart).

Faxes should now be able to come over the SIP and be handled by the fax machine itself.
