FAX Support - How do I disable ECM (Error Correction Mode) for faxing?

Error correction mode automatically detects and corrects errors in fax transmissions sometimes caused by noise on an incoming line. While useful in theory, it can sometimes cause issues and may need to be disabled. Below are the steps to disable ECM at various levels of the fax process in Switchvox:

• At the extension level:

1. ​Navigate to Setup>Extensions>Manage

2. Select Login as this User on the extension you wish to modify

3. Navigate to Voicemai/Fax>Fax Options>Sending/Receiving>Advanced Options

4. Change Disable ECM for G711 Fax Sessions to No

5. Select Save Fax Options

• At the VOIP Provider level:

1. Navigate to Setup>Call Routing>VOIP Providers

2. Select Modify next to the provider you wish to modify

3. Navigate to the Fax Settings tab

4. Change Error Correction Mode for G711 Faxes to Disabled

5. Select Save SIP Provider
