Fonality - Edit keypress options on an IVR menu or add new keypresses - How do I?

  1. keypress.jpg

Click AutoAnswer --> edit call menu

  2. If you wish to edit your current keypress options, select a digit from the drop-down menu under "if caller presses" and an action from the drop-down menu under "Go to submenu/ext"

  3. Repeat step 2 for every other keypress you wish to change

  4. If you wish to add a new keypress, select a digit from the drop-down menu under "Add New Keypress" section and an action from the drop-down menu next to "Go to:"

  5. Repeat step 4 for every other keypress you wish to add

Note: The keypress system knows which digits are currently assigned.  You cannot assign a keypress twice.  The actions available from the "Go to:" drop-down include all sub-menus and extensions configured on your PBXtra .  You cannot route a caller into a queue via a keypress.  You must first route the caller into a sub-menu and from the sub-menu route the caller into a queue.

We recommend you select your own keypresses, and keep their behavior consistent on different menus.  However, if you have no pre-existing keypresses or preferences, here are some suggestions:

  • 0 is often a good choice for an operator.
Tip: If you don't have an operator or don't want callers pressing zero, you can also set the keypress to route the caller back to the MAIN menu, in which case they'll just loop when they press 0.

  • 6 or # is a popular choice for checking voicemail.

  • 9 is commonly used for a name directory.
