How to: Change the Digit Timeout within your IP Phone
The following information is provided via our KB in order to help you, the customer, have more control over your IP Phone's settings. However, Fonality Support will neither assist you with this process nor troubleshoot for you should you make a configuration mistake. Fonality Support will direct you to reset your phone to factory defaults should your phone stop working as a result of this procedure.
The 'digit timeout' function controls how long the phone waits for you to continue entering numbers until the phone tries to make a call. Short digit timeouts frequently cause customers trouble when the customer is entering a phone number that is written down on a piece of paper, and the delay between reading the numbers off the paper and entering the numbers into the phone takes too long. A short digit timeout causes the phone to start dialing prematurely. We recommend using HUD to make calls.
Find the IP address of your phone.
Open a web browser on your computer (your computer must be on the same IP network as the phone)
Enter the IP address you found in Step #1 into the address portion of your web browser (the same place you would type in 'http://www.fonality.com ')
When you are prompted for a username and password, use the following:
Username: admin
Password: 22222
Click Preferences (located under the 'basic settings' menu on the left-hand side)
Change the Digit Timeout (seconds) setting to a higher value (such as 10)
Click Save Settings at the bottom of the page
Click on Reset under the Operations menu
Click on Restart Phone
Once the phone restarts, the new digit timeout setting will be active
