Install a TDM card - How do I?
TDM cards include: Analog (Sangoma A200), PRI (Sangoma A10X), BRI (Sangoma A500), and E1 (Sangoma A10X)
In order to install new hardware, you will need to Power Off your system and Open the Case. Please watch this instructional video on general PCI card installation: http://video.about.com/pcsupport/PCIcard-mov.htm. TDM cards are fundamentally the same as other types of PCI cards you might install in a desktop tower or a blade server.Â
The Dell 1950 III blade-server requires a special adapter for some cards. Please read Dell 1950 III PCI-E vs. PCI-X Risers if you own this type of server.
There are a number of caveats you must consider when installing a TDMÂ card:
If you are replacing existing hardware with identical hardware - no configuration changes are necessary.
If you are adding an additional analog ports but NOT removing the original card - no hardware changes are necessary (i.e. card placement within the system), but you will need to configure the card via the Options --> cards page. Insert the new module into the existing card. The module slides in in only one direction. We have an instructional video about modifying a card via this page. You may need to connect the molex power cable to the new analog card.
If you are adding an additional analog card, you will need to check the placement within the system. Please place the main analog card on the first PCI bridge (the one closest to the CPU). If you do not perform this step, the port numbering may not map properly to the available hardware, and FONcore will fail to start. This creates a system-down scenario, but is very easy to configure properly.
If you are adding additional T1/PRI ports, no hardware changes are necessary. Please view How do I configure TDM cards? (Analog/PRI/BRI) for information about configuring ports properly.
If you are adding a card with HWEC, no hardware changes are necessary. Please contact Fonality Support in order to enable the HWEC chip on the card. This option will become available in a future version of the Admin Panel.
If you are adding a TDM card to a system that has no TDM cards, no hardware placement changes are necessary. Please watch How do I configure TDM cards? (Analog/PRI/BRI) in order to configure the card per your Provider's instructions (aka 'cut sheet').
If you are moving an analog card or PRI card, you must re-configure the cards or your system will not start-up. Please watch How do I configure TDM cards? (Analog/PRI/BRI) for step-by-step instructions.
