KWS300 wireless server Setup
Primarily for advanced users.
KIRK Wireless Server 300. E.g. a "base station" or "access point".
Find the wireless server IP address:
Look in the router's DHCP client table. The wireless server uses MAC address: 00:13:D1
Alternatively, use a tool like Angry IP Scanner to scan for all hosts on the network with port 80 open.
Or ask Support.
...from the PBX:
For experienced Linux administrators only!
You'll need two terminal windows connected to the PBX, unless you know how to use screen.
On the first terminal window, run this command:
nmap -v -sT 192.168.1.1-254
(adjust it to fit their network - e.g. 10.10.10-11.1-254)On the second terminal window, run this command:
watch "arp -an | grep 00:13:D1 -i"You should see the IP address of the KIRK Wireless server pop up within seconds. Use CTRL+C to terminate both commands.
Thanks to nixCraft: Linux / UNIX: Scanning network for open ports with nmap command
Default wireless server login: admin/kws300
Username: admin
Password: kws300
Configuration tab -> SIP
Here the default domain should be something like "sSERVERID.pbxtra.fonality.com". If it's set to "http://example.com ", you may need to load the configuration file. See Provisioning, below.
The Base itself Does Not register to the Server;
Under the Configuration>SIP>
(right click open in new tab for full-res)
Then enter the credentials in the actual User>Sip configuration for the handsets themselves:
Configuration -> Provisioning
Method: Static.
WARNING: The Kirk Wireless Server will not load the user xml files if you use the static method (at the time of this writing, Oct 2011). However, the customer's network might not be configured to hand out "ftp://ftp_username:ftp_password@ftp.pbxtra.com" as DHCP-Option 66. See the Users -> Import/Export section below.
Preferred URL: The format is ftp://SERVERID:FTP_PASSWORD@ftp.pbxtra.com
(the PBX administrator contact may contact Support for the ftp username and password)
Alternate URL: ftp://PlcmSpIp:PlcmSpIp@sSERVERID.pbxtra.fonality.com
(if you have a premise-based PBX on the local network)
Save, OK, Reboot.
Double-check the SIP tab afterwards. The default domain should now contain the correct information.
Users -> List Users
Show what phones are recognized by the Wireless Server and registering.
Phones with a green checkmark for "Subscription" are logged in to the wireless server.
If there are no phones, see Import/Export, below.
Users -> Import/Export
The wireless server expects the user lists in CSV format. These may be available by using the Configuration -> Provisioning instructions above. For information on the file format, see CSV Users File, below.
Select browse and find the CSV file with your users.
Encoding. You'll likely need to select "Windows-1252" if you edited it on a Windows box. Click Load.
You should now be able to see handsets on the Users -> List Users tab.
AC "Access" code
Configured on the Wireless server itself, and needed by the handset. Found on the Wireless server under Users -> List Users -> click on a user.
The last four digits of the phone's IPEI should be the default AC Access Code. Refer to the config file if you wish to confirm.
IPEI - handset identifier
A unique hardware identifier for the phone handset itself.
Look up the IPEI on the handset menu:
Menu -> Status -> Firmware version.
CSV Users File
(mainly for reference - it should not be necessary to create this manually)
Created from the XML file.
1.) Use an xml to csv converter tool to save you some typing.
Caution: Due to security considerations, you may not want to submit an XML file of users, passwords and registration domains to a third-party online converter.
2.) Make sure the file is correctly formatted. Comma separated, and information enclosed in quotes.
3.) Important: The domain must have an empty pair of quotes (no space), as shown:
#IPEI,access code,standbytext,username,domain,displayname,authenticate user,authenticate password,disabled
