Network Connectivity - How do I stop phantom calls reaching my PBX?
"Phantom" or "ghost" calls can appear on a Switchvox either by the provider sending calls from an unknown IP, or malicious SIP attacks on your system. They will usually appear either on a phone as a call from a generic extension (Ex: 100, 1000) or in your error logs as Received call xxxxxxxxxx from unknown host.
If the call is coming in directly to the phones this would be bypassing the Switchvox entirely and would likely be coming from someone accessing your network and attempting to generate calls. This would need to be resolved by restricting access on your network or firewall.
If the issue is occurring on the switchvox, ensure that your default incoming call rule is blocking unknown calls using the steps below:
Go to Setup > Call Routing > Incoming Calls
Locate Unknown VOIP rule and click Modify
Set the rule to route all incoming calls from unknown host to Busy Signal
Click Save Catch All
