Overview

Express for Lync can be configured to PSTN calls through the equipped Session Border Controller (SBC). The SBC will receive the call via its internal interface, and pass it out the external interface to a SIP Trunk. Please see the illustration below which displays a network diagram of how everything is related and configured.

In this scenario, it is important to note the roles required for the successful operation of Express for Lync:

Active Directory Domain Controller
Lync Mediation Server with Front End Pool
Session Border Controller
Lync Edge Server
Reverse Proxy Server through IIS ARR.
