Phones - Why do remote Polycoms phones have long delay when calling internal phones?

The delay between SIP phone extensions is caused when the extension has one of the following enabled:

  • Show caller profile on phone during incoming calls

  • Show caller profile on phone during outgoing calls

and

  • port 443 is either being blocked or filtered causing the phone to be unable to pull the profile. The phone will keep trying to pull the profile for 180 seconds before giving up then connecting the extensions.

To disable these options:

  1. Navigate to the Setup drop menu and select Manage Extensions

  2. Select Modify next to the remote extension experiencing the issue

  3. Select the Phones Setting tabs

  4. On the Phones Settings tab click the Other Manufacturers tab

  5. Under Polycom Phone Settings set Show Caller Profile on Phone to No for incoming and outgoing calls

  6. Click Save SIP Extension

  7. Place test call to verify issue has been resolved.
