What To Do When a Digium Phone Using PoE (Power Over Ethernet) Displays Error: Failed to contact the boot server and keeps rebooting.

  1. Go to Setup > Digium Phones > Assigned Phones > Delete the Assigned Phone using red x icon.

  2. Go to Server > Phone Networks setup hostname for both the hostname and the IP address in Alternative Host. This should overcome any name resolution problems.

  3. Go to Server > Phone Networks > Create Phone Network

  4. Enter Name for network (this can be anything you wish).

  5. Network field: enter the internal IP address assigned to the phone (this can be found on the phone: Menu > About > IP Address).

  6. Host Address field: enter host IP Address (from the Server > IP Configuration Page > eth0 Interface > IP Address field).

  7. Alternate Host field: enter Hostname (from the Server > IP Configuration Page > Advanced Options > Hostname)

  8. Reboot phone and try to register again.
