Phones - Can you perform a blind transfer with a softphone?

The ability to perform a blind transfer on a softphone depends on the softphones ability to hold, and transfer a call. If the softphone does not support these features then a blind transfer cannot be performed. If your softphone does support these features, and if they are compatible with the Switchvox system then a softphone user can perform a blind transfer by following these steps:

  1. When a caller is on the phone select the Transfer button.

  2. Dial the extension number you would like to transfer the call to.

  3. Select the Transfer button again.

Note: You may need to consult the users manual for your model of softphone to see if call transferring is possible. Transferring a call may be performed differently on some softphones and may require different steps.

If your softphone does not support transferring calls then it may be possible for softphone users to transfer calls through their Switchboard. To use the Switchboard to transfer a call:

  1. Log into your Switchvox extension.

  2. Click the Switchboard icon in the upper right hand corner below your extension name and number to launch the Switchboard.

  3. The Current Calls panel, and the Phonebook panel need to be displayed on the Switchboard.

  4. When a caller is on the phone click the Hold button in the Switchboard Current Calls panel.

  5. With your mouse, left click and hold the left side of the Current Calls panel. It will be to the left of the Hold button and blinking red.

  6. While holding the left mouse button down, drag the mouse towards the Phonebook panel. You will see a small phone icon appear while dragging.

  7. Drop the phone icon on the user in the Phonebook panel that you want to transfer the call to. The call will be transferred the extension you selected.
