Phones - Why does my Polycom VVX phone give me a warning that it is running pre 3.3.0 firmware and how do I resolve this issue?
Note: Some Polycom VVX phones are shipped with pre 3.3.0 firmware. If so, the phone will display a constant warning icon on the top of the screen and will also display messages that the firmware is pre 3.3.0. To solve this issue you will need to upgrade the firmware and bootrom to the latest version, following the steps in this article.
Log into the phones Web Configuration Utility by entering the phones IP address in your web browser.
When prompted, enter Admin for the username and 456 for the password.
Choose Utilities-Software Upgrade.
On the Software Upgrade screen, choose the Polycom Hosted Server option.
Click the Check for Updates button.
In the Software Available from Custom Server box, choose a software version you would like to upgrade to. All the versions in green are newer versions than the phones current software. You will want to choose the newest version.
Click the Install button.
When the message displays, stating that you would like to upgrade or downgrade the phones firmware, select Yes.
Now an End User License Agreement will pop up. You will need to click Accept to start the installation of the firmware upgrade. The phone will reboot and update the firmware. After rebooting, the pre 3.3.0 firmware warning message will be gone.
