How to configure a SIP peer between your Digium Gateway appliance with your Switchvox
Topology
In the event that using the Gateway'sAutomatic Interconnect Utilityis unsuccessful, you can manually configure the Gateway and Switchvox as SIP Peers.
Switchvox Configuration
Login to Switchvox as the admin
Open the VoIP Providers tab. ( Setup > VoIP Providers )
Click Create SIP Provider
Under Provider Information enter the following information:
SIP Provider Name: this is just a label, you can create a name to indicate it is a Gateway
Your Account ID: create an ID for authentication, this is the username on the Gateway
Your Password: create a password, this will be the same as the password on the Gateway
Hostname/IP Address: enter the IP Address of the Gateway (on Gateway Menu: Diagnostics > Connection Status)
Callback Extension: default extension to ring when a voice call comes in over this SIP Provider. Callback extensions can be any extension type (User Extension, IVR, or a Call Queue, etc).
Under Peer Settings complete the following information:
Host Type: select Peer or Provider
Select Peer if the Digium Gateway will register to the Switchvox, or Provider if the Switchvox will register to the Gateway.
Click Save SIP Provider
Digium Gateway Appliance
Login to the Gateway
Open SIP Endpoints tab ( Settings and Configuration > SIP Endpoints )
Click Create a SIP Endpoint
Under Main, complete the following configuration:
Name (*2) :
Username(*2):
Password(*2):
Registration (*3):
Hostname/IP Address: enter the private IP address of the Switchvox (under Server > IP Configuration > eth0 Interface > IP Address)
Click Save Endpoint
(*2) These fields should be the same as Switchvox Configuration values entered.
(*3) If you selected "Endpoint Registers with this gateway", the option "Hostname/IP Address" will be disabled. The IP address or hostname will be determined when the Switchvox registers with the Gateway.
Now, your Digium Gateway and Switchvox should be connected as a SIP peer. You can check the connection status on the Switchvox under Server > Connection Status (or System Status). Please keep in mind that you will need to configure the dialing rules in both systems and setup the T1/E1 or Analog ports in the Gateway, before you can place calls. See this article for detailed instructions:
How to Setup Digium Gateway Call Routing Rules
Important note:
When you are placing calls from a Digium Gateway appliance and Switchvox, please do not set the Caller ID Number equal to one of the Switchvox extensions. If the CallerID Number matches one of the Switchvox extension numbers, Switchvox will interpret that the call is being placed from the extension, instead of the Digium Gateway appliance, and it will fail with authorization mismatch.
