Overview
This guide introduces the Sangoma Phone Integration for Microsoft Teams. The integration enables users to manage calling, SMS, voicemail, shared voicemail and supervisory features directly within Microsoft Teams.
The integration is available across both the Microsoft Teams browser version and desktop application, providing a consistent experience across platforms.
This is not a phone. To initiate and receive calls, at least one of the following phones must be active:
Desk phone on the Main Extension
Sangoma Phone Desktop Softphone
Sangoma Talk Mobile Softphone
Features:
Access to voicemail, shared voicemail, and parked calls
Advanced Queue call features
SMS messaging
Contact directory integration
Real-time SMS, voicemail, and shared voicemail notifications
AI-powered voicemail transcription (Scribe)
Support for both Microsoft Teams Desktop and Browser versions

Steps to Add a Sangoma Phone in Your Microsoft Teams Interface
Follow the steps below to add Sangoma Phone to your Microsoft Teams application:
Step 1: Open Microsoft Teams
Launch the Microsoft Teams desktop or web application.
Sign in with your organizational account.
Step 2: Navigate to Apps
In the left-hand navigation menu, click on Apps (bottom-left corner).
Step 3: Search for Sangoma Phone
In the search bar at the top of the Apps window, type:
Sangoma
Locate Sangoma Phone (Sangoma Phone Apps Container) from the search results.
Step 4: Add the Application
Click the Add button next to Sangoma Phone.
Step 5: Access the Application
Once added, Sangoma Phone will appear in your Teams sidebar.
If not visible, click the three dots (…) and search for Sangoma Phone.
You may also right-click and select Pin for quick access.
Step 6: Grant Consent and Access Sangoma Phone
On the consent screen shown below, click Consent to open Sangoma Phone inside Microsoft Teams. No additional login is required.
Step 7: Sangoma Phone Dashboard & Version Information
After clicking Consent, the Sangoma Phone dashboard will open inside Microsoft Teams.
At the bottom of the screen, you can verify:
Sangoma Client Version (e.g., v4.3.0 is the embedded version)
Switchvox Version (e.g., Switchvox 8.4 build 105176)
extension name number is displayed (top-right corner)
Notification & Alert Functionality
This section covers the notification capabilities available within the activity tab in Microsoft Teams , including:
SMS Notifications – Real-time alerts for incoming text messages.
Voicemail Notifications – Alerts for new voicemail messages.
Shared Voicemail Notifications – Notifications when new messages are received in shared mailboxes.
When a user clicks on a notification, they are automatically redirected to the respective tab (SMS, Voicemail, or Shared Voicemail) within Sangoma Phone for quick access and action.
Artificial Intelligence Functionality – Scribe
This section highlights the AI-powered capabilities available within Microsoft Teams through Scribe.
Scribe provides intelligent voicemail processing features, including:
Voicemail and Shared Voicemail Transcription – Converts voicemail audio into readable text.
Sentiment Analysis – Classifies messages as:
Positive
Neutral
Negative
PDF Transcript Download – Allows users to download voicemail transcripts (for both normal and shared voicemail) in PDF format.
The AI Scribe feature can be enabled only for users with a valid and active Scribe license.
Call activity: Whisper, Barge, and Monitor:
Supervisor can listen to a call, speak to the agent without the caller hearing (whisper), join the call (barge), or just monitor silently.
