Switchvox - Why does my IVR not preserve caller id when using 'Send to External Number'?

When sending a call to an external number the Switchvox will always follow whatever Outgoing Caller ID rule is established for the extension.

In the case of using an IVR the Switchvox will always use whatever default Caller ID is applied to the system as it's not using an extension.

For those who are wanting calls to come into the system, then cascade out to answering services or cell phones you will be best suited using a SIP or Virtual extension.  This allows us to apply SPECIFIC Outbound Caller ID which is often REQUIRED by providers to avoid call rejections.

To create a call cascade rule
First set-up the call cascade rule by doing the following:

  1. Log as the extension

  2. Once logged into the extension's  /main go to Features→Call Rules

  3. Then click Create Call Rule Set

  4. Here you want to give the rule a name, select a time frame, rule set status by default is Any.

  5. Once the Call Rule has been set and saved now click on Create Actions→Call Cascade

  6. Then select the type of call you wish to cascade to their cell phone.

  7. Then enter the phone number you wish to send the callers too(cell phone)

Note: Make sure to enter the number as it would be dialed from the PBX(i.e. If you require a 91+10 digit number to match your outgoing call rule..remember to enter the 91 before the 10 digit cell number)

  1. Choose to Preserve Caller ID

  2. Then save the New Actions.

  3. Now go back to Features→Call Rules and move the Cascade to the number 1 position. Place test call
