Switchvox - How do I migrate my setup to a new Switchvox
Below are some setup instructions and best practices when installing a new Switchvox and migrating your old configuration to the new environment.
On the New Switchvox:
Connect the Switchvox to your network and a power source. Most models will start up automatically when connected to a power source. Use the power button indicated here to start up.
Allow the system to boot normally until you reach the following screen, Select OK and press Enter:
At the next screen select whether to use Static or DHCP for networking on the system. In most circumstances we recommend configuring a static IP. Note: At this point you will want to set up the new system on a different IP address than your previous Switchvox. Use the Spacebar to make sure there is an x next to static then hit Enter:
Enter the new IP address, hit Enter
Enter the netmask and hit Enter
Enter the Default Network Gateway and hit Enter
Enter you network DNS server and hit Enter
You will see a screen confirming the information you have entered. Check over it to make sure everything appears correct, then hit Enter to proceed
At the next screen, highlight your desired Language and hit Enter
At this point you should see a screen stating the IP address at which you can administer your PBX.
Open a web browser and navigate to https://<ip-of-your-pbx>/admin
You will be prompted to enter a username and password, the default credentials are both "admin"
Navigate to Server -> Maintenance -> Registration
Enter the requested information. For your Registration Code, use the same registration code from your previous Switchvox.
On the original Switchvox:
Navigate to Server -> Maintenance -> Backups
Select Create Backup
Include all files except PBX Error Logs
Select Save Backup
Once this is done you will be automatically returned to the Backups page, locate the backup you just created and select Download
On the New Switchvox:
Navigate to Server -> Maintenance -> Backups
Select Upload & Restore Backup
Click in the field labelled Backup File and locate the file you downloaded
Select Upload and Restore Backup
Note: Once the backup is restored it is recommended to perform a software restart under Server -> Maintenance -> System Reload -> Software Restart
You should now remove network and power from your original Switchvox
Navigate to Server -> Networking -> IP Configuration
Change the IP Address, Netmask, and any other different network settings to match the settings on the original Switchvox
Select Save IP Configuration
