Switchvox - How To Prevent Users From Using the Forward Phone App?

Users often press the Forward Phone app on the Phone Menu to forward calls instead of using Call Rules (and/or the status key to change phone status). This can cause confusion when trying to determine why a call is being routed to a particular extension.

How to disable that feature:

  1. Login as admin

  2. Go to Setup > Extensions: Manage > click modify extension (yellow pencil) on the extension number.

  3. Click on Permissions > click the arrow for Use Digium Phone Apps > click on Forward Calls and set it to No.

  4. Save SIP Extension.

You can also use Bulk-Modify Extensions to change all extensions at one time.

  1. Login as admin

  2. Go to Setup > Extensions: Manage > Bulk-Modify Extensions

  3. Click the magnifying glass icon to select multiple extension numbers.

  4. Click Add

  5. Under Phone-Extension Fields, click on Permissions tab.

  6. Field to Modify is Feature and Configuration Permissions > click Next

  7. Click the magnifying glass icon and select Forward Calls > click No button

  8. Click Add

  9. Click Save Modification button on bottom of the screen.

You have now disabled the Forward App feature on the phones you selected.

You can also change the Default Template so that new extensions that are created will not have the Forward Phone app enabled.

  1. Just go to Setup > Templates > click on yellow pencil for the Default Template.

  2. Click on the Permissions tab > click on blue arrow for Use Digium Phone Apps > click on Forward Calls and set it to No.

Now whenever you create a new extension using the Default Template, it will have that feature disabled.

Note: It is recommended that user setup Call Rules to forward calls to another extension.
