Switchvox - Incorrect BIOS Settings Cause Switchvox E510 Performance Issues

Switchvox - Incorrect BIOS Settings Cause Switchvox E510 Performance Issues

Symptoms

The troubleshooting steps below should be completed if you are experiencing any of the following issues with Switchvox and are using an E510 appliance:

  • The E510 appliance is extremely slow to boot up; it may be taking 5 minutes or more to fully boot.

  • Switchvox is generally slow to respond while navigating the Admin and/or User interfaces.

  • Consistently poor audio quality.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. If able to boot and access the Switchvox Admin Web interface, then check the Server Information page for any over threshold warnings. If the system shows an over threshold warning, then proceed to Reboot System to confirm performance issues persist.

  2. From a separate computer on the same network, execute a ping command (terminal: ping <ip.of.the.switchvox>) and confirm that latency is below 5 ms.

  3. If the system does not report an over threshold warning and the latency is low, then reboot the server, enter into the BIOS using F2, or the Delete key, and confirm the boot options are set correctly: Make sure that Legacy Boot is Checked (Boot tab > Boot Priority section > Legacy Boot) and the OS Selection is set to Linux (Boot tab >  Boot Configuration section > UEFI Boot setting > OS Selection).
