Updating for reconciliation of DPMA issue

D-Series telephones and the Switchvox Mobile Softphone possess an embedded certificate that is used to encrypt their communications with a Sangoma phone system server.
The certificate will expire on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 4:45:20pm EDT (GMT -5).

If this certificate is invalid, D-Series phones and the Switchvox Mobile softphone are unable to provision against any Switchvox or DPMA-equipped system and will become unusable until the server is updated.
There is no in-place mechanism for remotely forcing an update on a server that will provide remediation.

The Tech Support team is here to answer any questions and help with issues in regards to updating, but the upgrade process itself must be completed by the consumer.

Here are several things to keep in mind with regards to upgrading.

  • Take a backup of the system, in case there is a need to restore and offload that backup off the server, steps are found HERE

  • If you have to process through multiple upgrades, take a backup after each successful one.

  • It is not necessary to step through all of the versions. We will provide a step through guide later in this article.

The following versions have been patched to resolve the issue:

5.12
6.8
7.6.2
If you are on a version 5.x, you must upgrade to 5.12
If you are on a version 6.x, you must upgrade to 6.8
If you are on a version 7.x, you must upgrade to at least 7.6.2 (if you're already above that, then your system will be fine.)

NOTE: We suggest you only update to the highest version within the version group your server is already on.
For example, if you are in version group 5.x only update to 5.12, if you are in version group 6.x, update to 6.8 and don't attempt to migrate to version 7 in order to get in a working status as quickly as possible. After that you can attempt to move to a higher version group if your hardware allows for it.
Sangoma Technical Support will not be able to assist in going from one version group to a higher version group from 4/28 - 6/1
