Switchvox - How does Switchvox's VPN utility work?

For assistance from Tech Support, you may be asked to enable VPN access, in the Switchvox admin interface.

Switchvox uses OpenVPN, to create a secure connection between your Switchvox and Sangoma’s portal access server. Below are some key points to connect successfully:

  • To enable, select Server > Technical Support > Technical Support Access: ENABLED.

  • Sangoma Technical support provides a password. (Generated for each individual VPN session.)

  • Communication occurs via UDP traffic, on port 1194. (Ensure this port is open between Switchvox and Sangoma.)

  • Your network must be able to resolve portalaccess.switchvox.com (Sangoma’s server) to IP address 199.248.63.85.

  • Ensure Switchvox is not blocking 10.138.0.1 or 10.139.0.1, on the Server > Blocked IPs list.

  • Port 22 (SSH) should not be open to the public, from the PBX.

  • Selecting “Connect” makes an outbound connection to “portalaccess.switchvox.com:1194”.

  • Switchvox must be registered.

After troubleshooting, close the VPN tunnel by disconnecting Technical Support Access, in your Switchvox admin interface.
