Why won't my analog lines disconnect.

Why won't my analog lines disconnect.

  1. In the Channel Group always have your Device Type set to Kewlstart. Kewlstart is exactly like Loopstart except it detects remote hangups.

  2. Enable a feature to detect the busy tones instead of the standard ground-loop disconnect supervision supplied in most countries. To enable this,

    1. Go into Setup --> Channel Admin

    2. Click modify next to your analog line group.

    3. Open up the Advanced Signaling options

    4. Look for "Detect Busy Signal" option

    5. Set this option to Yes.

  3. If the line still does not disconnect, call your phone provider and ask that they enable "disconnect supervision" on your analog lines. It may take a bit of posturing to get through to a tech that knows what you're talking about, but eventually you will succeed.

  4. If your provider cannot enable disconnect supervision, or for some reason it still does not detect hangups, try (1) and (2) again. If you are using analog lines outside of North America they may require other settings.
