Switchvox - What to do when Voicemail messages or message indicators are delayed

If you are experiencing issues with voicemail or indicator lights taking a long time to appear on a phone, or not appearing at all, there can be a few different things at play. Below are some steps could resolve possible issues:

  1. Navigate to Server>Networking>Phone Networks

  2. Select Modify next to the phone network on which you are experiencing the issue

  3. Change Direct Port Access to Yes

  4. Select Save Phone Network

  5. Reboot a phone with the issue and try again

Note: Prior to to Switchvox version 6.3.6, turning Direct Port Access to YES would cause/allow phones to configure over port 5062 UDP instead of port 5060 UDP. As of 6.3.6 and later, only port 5060 UDP can be used for SIP configuration.

If this does not have an effect on the issue, there may be a problem with the way the phones are registered. This can happen when you have the same value in the Primary Host (PBX) and Alternate Host fields in the phone network as seen below:

Note: This would include if there is a domain name and IP that resolve to the same value.

If the issue is still present after these changes, there may be some networking issue in play. Be sure to check your network for any filtering on ports 5060, 80, or 443 as this can cause problems with the signaling involved.
