How to I manually register a Digium phone

This guide shows how to manually register Digium phones with the Switchvox PBX.

  1. Determine the Digium phone’s IP address.

    • After the phone is connected to your network and powered on, wait for boot-up cycle to complete. From the phone's display, select More > About.

  2. Open a web browser and type the phone’s IP address into the web browser’s address bar.

  3. The Sing In screen should appear. The default username is 'admin' and the password is '789'.

  4. Once logged in select, Lines > Line 1, tabs.

  5. Under the General section:

    • Enter an extension number in the 'User ID / Extension', 'Authorization Name' and 'Line Label on Phone' fields.

    • Set the Register option to YES.

    • For the Password, enter the phone-password.

      • This is the SIP registration password that your phone uses for registration with Switchvox. The password is set by going to Switchvox Admin > Setup > Manage > Modify (pencil button) extension > Phone Settings tab > Common Settings tab > Phone Password. It is recommended to use a complex password.

  6. Under the Primary Host section:

    • For the 'IP Address or Hostname' field, enter the IP address of the PBX. (Note, for a remote phone, enter the PBX’s external public IP address.)

    • For the 'Port' field, enter: 5060

  7. Click the Submit Phone Settings button. When the confirmation pop up appears, select Yes.

    • This saves the new configuration, reboots and then registers the phone with Switchvox.

The Digium phone should now be successfully registered. Test by making a call. If your test call fails, factory reset the phone and then follow the instructions above to register the phone.
