Switchvox - How to create a call rule to dial 0 to reach the operator or receptionist?

Directions to create a call rule that enables users to dial one digit to reach an internal extension

This type of call rule setup is used when internal users would like to dial one digit, such as 0, to reach a receptionist. This type of call rule will need to be created because without it, the calls will fail. These failures occur because the system believes that when a user presses just one digit, they have not completed dialing the full extension number or external number and the call will fail.

Below is an example of how to create this call rule:

In this example, we will be dialing "0" to reach the Operator at extension 322.

  1. In the /admin portal go to Setup > Call Routing > Outgoing Calls

  2. Under Outgoing Call Rules, select "Create Outgoing Call Rule"

  3. Create an outgoing call rule as shown below:

  1. Rule name and notes can be anything that you would like, this is used for your reference

  2. Pattern to match:  Number begins with the digits "0".  The rest of the number must be "0 and 0" digits in length.  Before connecting the call, trim "1" digit from the front, and then prepend the digits (the digits will be the extension the calls will be going to), for this example it will be 322.

  3. Call Through:  Primary Call Through Provider "Internal".

  4. Rule Final:  Is this rule final? "Yes".  Allow all existing extensions to use this rule? Yes.

  5. Click "Save Outgoing Call Rule" and test.
