Switchvox - How to setup an overhead speaker for paging

First, on the Switchvox we need to create an available extension. Secondly, from the management interface for the paging device, we register it.

Create a SIP extension in Switchvox

1. Go to Setup > Manage > Create Extension > Extension Type: SIP Phone or SIP Adapter for Analog Phone (ATA), and click on Create Extension button.

2. Assign any unused extension number in the Extension field. Type “Speaker” or any other descriptive words to label the extension in the First Name field.

3. Enter a password and PIN, then click Save SIP extension.

Register the Overhead Paging device to the SIP extension

1. In Switchvox select Setup > Manage > Modify (pencil icon) for the extension you will be registering the paging device.

2. Select Phone Settings tab > Common Settings tab, and then add a complex password.

3. Next, log into the management interface for the paging device. Typically, you only need to add the following:

   1. Username or account – this is the phone extension extension number.

   2. Password – this is the extension password you set in the Common Settings tab

   3. SIP Server (or Host) – This is the Switchvox’s IP address found under Server > IP Configuration

   4. At this point save your settings and the paging device should be registered

4. Finally, in the Switchvox, check if the extension successfully registered. Go to Server > Connection Status > SIP Phones. The extension should show green if it’s registered successfully.
