Vega Gateways - Vega Digital Gateway to Analog Gateway bypassing Switchvox for Fax
Overview
The main purpose of this article is to show how to send fax calls between a Digital and Analog Vega bypassing the Switchvox. The wiki will also show how to also send normal voice calls from both the Digital and Analog Gateways to and from the Switchvox.
Introduction
For Trunking solutions, Vega Gateway to Switchvox Configuration Guide provides detailed information about the configuration requirements in Vega series of Gateways Vega 60G, Vega 100G, Vega 200G, Vega 400G. A typical deployment connects PSTN Network to Vega Gateway on one side using Vega T1/E1/BRI or FXO interface and Switchvox IP-PBX on the other side. Using SIP Protocol the Vega and the Switchvox create a Trunk together.
For Analog Station solutions, the Vega Gateway to Switchvox Configuration Guide provides detailed information about the configuration requirements for the Vega 60G, Vega 3000G and Vega 3050G series gateways. A typical deployment connects analog phones to the FXS interfaces of the Vega Gateway, bridging the connections to the Switchvox IP-PBX, registering each analog line as an FXS Extension on the Switchvox. However, in this case for the fax FXS lines plugged into the Analog Vega will not be registered to the Switchvox - they will be bridged directly to the Digital Vega.
Digital Trunking
Connecting PSTN Trunks into the Vega to deliver the calls to the Switchvox.
Switchvox Configuration
Please see Switchvox Trunking Configuration
Analog Extensions
Connecting Analog Phones into the Vega Gateway and Registering the corresponding Extensions to the Switchvox. Each FXS Line will individually Register to the Switchvox. This will allow the Switchvox to call each Extension on the Vega.

Vega to Vega Configuration
First step is to configure a 2nd SIP Profile on both the Digital and Analog Vega's.
Add New SIP Profile on Analog Vega
Set the interface ID to 9902 or one of your choice but begin with 99xx. In the Local domain/Alternate Local Domain specify the IP/FQDN of the Digital Vega that the Analog Vega will connect to.
Configure the Digital Gateway under the Proxy Parameters, be sure to select the SIP port of the Digital Vega. In this example is 5085, but in most cases is 5060.
4. / Configuration / Expert Config / SIP Configuration disable SIP Registration Users and SIP Authentication for the all fax extensions as you don't want them to auth/register to the Digital Vega.
5. Now set the To_SIP dial plan from the Analog Vega to the Digital Gateway. In this example the fax machine is plugged into FXS port 1 (0101) which will be routed to to the Digital Vega via the interface configured ion step 2 (9902.) All other FXS ports 0102-0104 are going to the Switchvox interface (9901.)
6. Create the To_FXS dial plan to route the fax DID to the fax machine FXS port (0101). In this example, the rule is matching TEL (dialed number) on the first three Digits (954) but you can adjust this according to your requirements - including the full DID.
7. Now, move onto the Digital Vega and create another SIP Profile. In the below example SIP Profile 2 with ID 9902 was created.
8. Modify the SIP Profile 2 and add the Analog Vegas Interface ID, mirroring what was done in step 2. Edit the Local domain/Alternate Local Domain specifying the IP/FQDN of the Analog Vega.
9. Configure the Analog Gateway under the Proxy Parameters, be sure to select the SIP port of the Analog Vega.
10. Edit the To_SIP Dial Plan to map a DID, in this case the Fax number(ex 9549999999) to the Analog gateway via SIP Profile 2 with interface ID 9902.
11. Ensure to To_T1/E1 Dial plan will allow inbound SIP calls from all SIP Profiles (ex 99..) and set the Dest to the PRI's. In the below example, there are 4 PRI's and all configured SIP Profiles can send calls out to all 4 PRI's.
12. One more recommended setting for fax, under Expert Config→SIP→Miscellaneous. Fax Detect to Always on both the Digital and Analog Vegas.
