IMG 1010 - Connecting to Redundant Power Sources

A second power source can be added to the chassis for power redundancy. The secondary source serves as backup to the primary source (power supply).

Warnings/Cautions:

  • Failure to turn power OFF at the redundant power source may result in electrical shock.

  • Ensure that the wires are pushed into the plug far enough, so that none of the copper is visible.

  • The DC power module plugs are polarity sensitive. The unit will not operate if the plugs are not wired correctly. See wiring diagram below.

Procedure:

Complete the following steps to connect a redundant power source to the chassis.

  • Ensure both circuit breakers on the DC power module are set to OFF (O).

  • Turn power OFF at redundant power source.

  • Route the RET and -48V wires from the redundant power source to the DC power module plug. Secure the wires to the plug with screws.

The power module plugs are in a small plastic bag included in your shipment.

  • Insert the plug into the DC power module and secure with screws.

  • Turn power ON at redundant power source.

  • Press the required circuit breaker on the DC power module to ON (I).
