Media DSP

The Media DSP is created under the Media Module object. The Media DSP object configures the DSP's set aside on the motherboard for tone generation and announcements to be used for tone generation and playback/record functionality. Up to eight individual Media DSP objects can be configured. The number of media DSP's that can be configured is limited depending on the number of modules installed and what the Media Mode field in the physical IMG 2020 node object is configured for.

If Playback/Record is selected as the function for the DSP being configured, that is the only function that can get created on that DSP object. See below for more information.

There are a bank of DSP chips on the motherboard set aside for playing tones and announcements. The rest of the DSP chips located on the motherboard and/or the separate Media Modules are utilized for call processing of Media RTP and Video data. The DSP's being configured below are just for functionality such as tone generation and announcements.

Maximum Objects

Up to eight Media DSP's can be created per Media Module object.

Related Topics and Dependencies

Generating tones and playing announcements needs DSP chips to be configured a certain way. The Media DSP object configures the DSP chips within the IMG 2020 to be able to function as either a tone generator or for playback/record of announcements and treatments. The number of DSP's that can get configured depends on both the number of Media Modules installed and how the Media Mode field in the physical BDN node object is configured. Up to a maximum of eight Media DSP objects can be created.

To be able to create/configure eight DSP Media objects, the system being configured must have a full set of DSP modules and, the Media Mode field in the Physical BDN node object must be configured as Audio LBR. If the number of DSP's modules installed goes down and the Media Mode field setting is to changed to accept more Multimedia, the number of Media DSP's that can be created goes down.

The Announcements - Overview topic includes a list of the steps required to configure the IMG 2020 to play tones, announcements, and treatments. Within that topic, follow the correct procedure for your specific application. For information on the objects created above and below the Media DSP object refer to the links below.
