For each Gatekeeper that the IMG 2020 is configured to communicate with, up to six additional Alternate Gatekeepers can be configured. By configuring Alternate Gatekeepers, redundancy is provided in the H.323 network. The Alternate Gatekeepers configured will be backups in the event that the primary Gatekeeper fails or loses connection with the IMG 2020 (H.323 endpoint). The Alternate Gatekeepers are configured under the External Gatekeeper object and are considered backups to that primary Gatekeeper. To configure the Alternate Gatekeepers, right click on the External Gatekeeper object and select New Alternate Gatekeeper.
Any fields configured in the Primary Gatekeeper object are also configured on the alternate gatekeepers. For example, if the Time to Live parameter is set to 66 seconds in the Primary Gatekeeper object, in the event of a failure, the IMG 2020 would send the Time to Live message with 66 seconds to the Alternate Gatekeeper in the Registration Requests (RRQ) message.

Field Descriptions
Alternate Gatekeeper Id/Priority
The Alternate Gatekeeper ID is automatically populated with ID:0. To modify the default ID, click in the Alternate Gatekeeper Id field and select a new ID from the drop down menu. Values range from ID:0 to ID:4.
Name
Click in the Name field and enter a name that identifies the alternate gatekeeper being configured.
Gatekeeper IP Address
Click in the Gatekeeper IP Address field and an Enter IP Address box will appear. Enter the IP address of the alternate gateway that is being configured in this object. The IMG 2020 will use this address to communicate with the alternate gatekeeper in the event of a failure on the primary gatekeeper.
Profile
The Profile field has a drop down list of all the H.323 Profiles created under the H323 Profile object. The Profile field configures the various attributes/features that need to be associated with the Alternate Gatekeeper being created/configured. Select from the drop down menu the H.323 profile that will be associated with the Alternate Gatekeeper the IMG 2020 will be communicating with.
