IMG 1004 - Rear Panel

Diagram

Overview

The IMG 1004 rear panel I/O connectors provide the required interfacing to support the Element Management System (EMS).

CTRL (Ethernet) - 10/100 (Communication to EMS)

This 10/100BaseT Ethernet connector provides communication with an external EMS or any other device that needs to be secure from the public network. The connector does not interface with the internal Ethernet switch and is physically isolated from any network internal to the IMG 1004. This auto-negotiating, full duplex connector supports MDIX (cable cross-over) which eliminates the need for crossover cables for point-to-point connections.

DATA  10/100 (Data and Signaling over IP)

This 10/100 BaseT Ethernet connector interfaces to the internal Ethernet switch. This connector is used to communicate to all devices in the IMG 1004 that need to communicate over the public network. All internal connections are 10/100BaseT. This auto-negotiating, full duplex connector supports MDIX (cable cross-over) which eliminates the need for crossover cables for point-to-point connections.

BEARER 0 - 3 (T1/E1 Bearer Span Connectors)

These 4 T1 or 4 E1 RJ-48 connectors are dedicated T1 or E1 interfaces. The connectors provide T1 with 100 ohm impedance and E1 with 120 ohm impedance. Each of the bearer spans can support traffic as well as signaling for SS7, ISDN, and CAS protocols. See also .

Timing on Bearer Spans:

Any Bearer Span 0-4 (T1 or E1) can be configured to accept a Primary or Secondary Loop Timing Source.

Ethernet Control, Signaling and Data Connector LEDs

These Ethernet RJ-48 connectors contain two LEDs that provide the user with Ethernet status. The top portion of each LED lights green which will indicate connectivity. The bottom section of each LED will light yellow which indicates speed. See table below.
