The IAM (Initial Address Message) is sent to a destination endpoint and contains information needed for call setup. Within the IAM message are parameters labeled as Forward Call Indicators (FCI). Forward Call Indicators contain information relating to the characteristics of the connection, signaling path, and called party sent in the forward direction. This is a mandatory parameter in the IAM message which is used in countries that offer CUG (closed user group) service. The FCI Override object functions as explained below.

A call comes into the IMG 2020. This call could be of any protocol and has call setup information to be passed to the outgoing side. The FCI Override object can be configured to translate/modify one or all of the parameters described below.

  1. Forward Call Indicator is set to Ignore, then all setup information received will pass through and be transmitted on the outgoing side.

  2. Forward Call Indicator is set to Override, a default set of values will be automatically set in this object. In this case, when the IMG 2020 receives the incoming message, it will ignore the incoming indicators and default values will be transmitted in the outgoing IAM message.

  3. Forward Call Indicator is set to Override. The user now has the ability to modify any of the indicators displayed in the FCI Override object. The outgoing IAM will consist of any default indicator values as well as any modified indicator values.

Maximum Objects

One FCI Override Indicator object per ISUP Group object.

Related Topics and Dependencies

The FCI Override object is created under an specific ISUP Group. The FCI Override object is used to either override or ignore one or all of the FCI parameters in any calls that use this ISUP Group. The complete SS7 network along with all of its objects must first be configured. Once they are configured, the FCI Override can be created and configured. The Default setting of the FCI Override object is to Ignore overriding the parameters.

Field Descriptions

Forward Call indicator

When the IAM is received, the IMG 2020 can be configured to either ignore or override the incoming FCI parameters. The FCI parameters are then transmitted onto the outgoing leg.

Ignore (Default)- FCI Override is disabled and the IMG 2020 propagates the ISUP information it receives to the outgoing leg.

Override - Values in FCI parameters will be overridden by values selected in corresponding fields below. (Default values that are displayed in the object will be sent if no value was received for a specific indicator)

See Forward Call Indicators Table (SIP to SIP-T Interworking) for bit information on the Forward Call Indicator.

* If FCI Override is set to Override, parameters marked with an asterisk (*) are the default values selected in the FCI Override Pane and will be available in the outbound IAM message.

National/International call indicator

National * - Change the National/International call indicators on the outbound ISUP IAM message to indicate the call is a national call.

International - Change the National/International call indicators on outbound ISUP IAM message to indicate the call is an international call.
