Announcements - Overview

The IMG 2020 can play audio files in the forms of announcements, tones, and treatments. There are various reasons why a treatment would need to be played. Firstly, the IMG 2020 supports playing a treatment when receiving a cause code. If for some reason the DS-1's are not in service or a number is dialed wrong, a treatment could be configured to play when a specific cause code is sent. A second supported function is making Pre-Call Announcements like "Thank-you for calling Company ABC please hold while your call is connected". A third way is using one of the other supported scenarios but adding to that functionality by concatenating the announcements or tones into treatments. The information below gives an overview of what is supported.

Background Information

The announcements to be played are initially stored on either an NFS Server or SD Card. Through a configuration set up through the Web GUI, the audio files are downloaded to the DSP cache and are made available to be played when required. The NFS Server or SD Card must be configured with a Mount Point and directory that contains the audio files required to play announcements. Once the NFS Server or SD Card functionality have been configured, the Web GUI can then be used to download the files and then configure the IMG 2020 to play the announcements as required.

A default set of tones and announcements can be downloaded from Sangoma BBS (Bulletin Board System). The instructions below describe how and where to go to get the files.

Obtain audio files from Sangoma BBS (Bulletin Board System)

  • Select IMG 2020

  • On the Sangoma BBS (Bulletin Board System) page, a login username and password are required to access the Downloads site. Enter the username and password (A support contract is needed to access this site).

The audio files above are all .vox files and can be used to create an announcement or treatment. The audio files should be loaded to either a directory on the SD Card or a directory/share on the NFS Server created for this functionality. The downloaded .vox audio files are displayed in the table above. The IMG 2020 supports both .vox and .wav files. Once the files have been downloaded from Sangoma BBS (Bulletin Board System), they can be transferred to the correct directory using the sFTP utility.
