This guide provides instructions on how to configure Speed Dials via the portal for phones and expansion modules supported by Business Voice. A User must have a login email and password to access the portal or Application Framework.
Speed Dial
Speed Dial is an industry term that typically describes how to assign complex long phone numbers to keys on a phone, making it possible to dial those numbers with one push of a button, also known as "Custom Speed Dial".
Business Voice includes that description, but also includes any Destination ID on an associated Location, including but not limited to Ring Groups, Queues, Dial External, Auto Attendant, etc. Local and remote extensions can be assigned.
Assigning a local extension allows the User to see extension presence. In this case, Speed Dial actually acts like a BLF (Busy Lamp Field); the user can see extension presence, including busy, available, ringing, and may "steal" the call.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Regarding local extension presence, up to 50 local extensions can be monitored for "real time" presence". There is a performance limit to the amount of extensions that can be monitored, even though an Expansion Modules may have a capacity of 180 slots. If more than 50 slots are added, the additional extensions only act as Speed Dials and not as BLF-monitored extensions.
