The Polycom® OBi302 is a

single port FXO and single

two-port FXS Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA) device packaged in a compact chassis. This device can be used for the following purposes:

Analog Backup line for incoming and outgoing calls on FXO port

Overview of the Installation Process

The

OBi312

OBi302 is normally pre-configured for use with our Business Voice

+

telephone

system

systems. In most cases, the installer can connect the

OBi312

OBi302 to the customer’s network along with the appropriate analog telephone connections.

OBi302 has a power connection, USB connection, two RJ11 telephone connectors, and two RJ45 network connectors, as shown in the following picture:

The connectors are used as follows:

Connection for an FXO (Office) device, usually an analog phone line for backup operation.

Phone

Connection

Connections for an FXS (station) device, such as an analog telephone or a fax machine.

USB

Not supported with Business Voice configurations.

LAN

Connection for a laptop computer. Use this connection for off-site configuration.

Internet

Connection to the local network (if used as a local device) or to a WAN connection (if used as a remote device).

DC 12V

Power

Power connector. Connect the provided AC power supply here.

Note: Does not operate on Power over Ethernet (PoE).

The LAN port is only used to access the

OBi312’s

OBi302’s built-in configuration server from a connected laptop. This is necessary when performing off-site configuration. After the device is configured, the LAN cable can be disconnected.

Pre-Installation Configuration

Ensure that the

OBi312

OBi302 device is added to the customer system correctly using the portal. ATA devices are added via the Multi-Extension Devices page in the portal. Analog Phone and Fax Extensions are configured via the Extensions page in the portal.

Analog backup is configured via the Analog Backup / Operator page in the portal.

The

OBi312

OBi302 can be configured for either local (On-Net) or remote (off-net) use. If you are re-deploying an

OBi312

OBi302 that was already configured, follow the instructions in the Factory Reset section below. Then, configure the device for either local or remote operation.

If you are unsure about the current configuration, perform a factory reset

,

and then configure the device using the ATA Portal Configuration Guide.

Factory Reset

To factory reset the

OBi312

OBi302 ATA device:

  1. Unplug the cable from the WAN or LAN port.

  2. Locate the small raised hole on the bottom of the unit, near front left corner.

  3. Insert a straightened paper clip or other thin tool into the hole, and press for about ten seconds. Once removed, the device resets to the factory settings

Configure as a Local Device

To configure the OBi302 ATA device as a local device:

  1. Connect the WAN port to the telephony switch, which is the switch connected to LAN2 and LAN3 on the

StarBox® Voice Optimized SD-WAN.

  1. Connect power supply. The device automatically downloads configuration and completes registration. Once registered, the OBi302 can make and receive inbound and outbound calls.

Note: Automatic configuration download only applies to the standard StarBox installation.

Configure as a Remote Device

The

OBi312

OBi302 can operate as a remote device, but it requires installation-specific configuration information to operate. For assistance, contact Sangoma’s Technical Support.

Business Voice Locations

Configure as a Local Device

To configure the OBi302 ATA device as a local device:

  1. Connect the WAN port to the network.

  2. Connect power supply. The device contacts the ZTP server, automatically downloads configuration, and completes registration.

Once registered, the OBi302 can make and receive inbound and outbound calls.

Configure as a Remote Device

To configure the OBi302 ATA device as a remote device:

  1. Connect the WAN port to the network.

  2. Connect power supply. The device contacts the ZTP server, automatically downloads configuration, and completes registration.

Once registered, the OBi302 can make and receive inbound and outbound calls.
