Info

The Span Status feature is an indication of errors that have occurred in a snapshot of time. Once the information is displayed (For Ex: Span Status screen opened), the error counters are cleared and set back to zero. The number of errors printed in the span status screen may not reflect the actual number of errors that have occurred in a given amount of time. Other span related system events occurring between Update Status requests may clear the span data. To acquire an accurate indication of Frame Errors, Slips, and Loss of Frame Counts, the span status screen must not be active during a test interval. For example, to get an accurate number of slips etc within a time frame, do the following

  1. Open the Query Span Status screen as described above.

  2. Once Span Status screen is open, click away from it so the menu bar turns gray. (Span status is Not Active)

  3. Wait a predetermined amount of time.

  4. Click on the Update Status button. This will display any events that happened during the predetermined amount of time from step 3.
